E-body Rallye New Wood Plates
(1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 Plymouth Barracuda/Cuda and Dodge Challenger)
E-body rallye instrument panel American Walnut concours-quality wood plates! These are the tan/brown bezels used on approximately 95% of 1970-71 models through mid-February 1971. The remainder of cars used Kashmir Walnut, which is the red-brown with pronounced horizontal straight-grain. A total of 13 versions of E-body wood were originally introduced. Four years of engineering went into making these American Walnut plates look great! ● fit right! ● last long!
All the holes, and rims, and curves are correct. Unlike the originals, these indicator lenses are perfectly placed for correct line-of-sight reading of the lens within the bezel openings. The wood (not just a decal!) is hand-fitted and bonded to mounting steel plates, using a slightly-elastic glue that allows for the slight difference in expansion and shrinkage with temperature that exists between aluminum and steel. Thus, the bond won't crack or become brittle over time! This was a HUGE fault of the new car wood on E-bodies. Names of switches are printed and bonded to the raised pads stamped onto the wood. The assembled plates drop right into the shroud slots, for a perfect fit. The ends of these plates are curved up, as original, before shipping.
Service is available to correctly restore the black plastic shrouds that the wood plates fit onto, including switch rebuild and indicator lens replacement. Inquire.
