Exterior Gray Dip Tank Primer Paint
(Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge)
The entire bare steel car body was dunked in a huge vat, up to the level of the headlight and tail light area (not true for winged cars). Because the body was dipped, the grey dip tank primer will show up as a definite paint line on the insides of the fenders, doors, and quarters, as shown in the photos. A fine restoration will show this. The dip tank primer was washed off the outer body, before the primer was baked on.
The mixture of dip primer varied every day, as new paint was dumped into the vat. Therefore, we have made our paint the color that was by far the most common one used.
Our Dip Tank Dark Gray-Blue "Primer" is the highest quality PPG brand epoxy-based primer that has been color matched to original cars we've documented over years of experience. If you are looking to perform an over-the-top detailed restoration, using this product will result in a detailed undercarriage like few restorations accomplish. It is VERY durable.
One quart is enough for a car. This product must be sprayed through a gun. It requires a hardener and reducer to use. A pint of hardener is included in the below price.
